The Spirit of God maketh the reading, but especially the preaching of the word, an effectual means of convincing and converting sinners, and of building them up in holiness and comfort, through faith, unto salvation.

Nehemiah 8:8; 1 Corinthians 14:24-25; Acts 26:18; Psalms 19:8; Acts 20:32; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Romans 10:13-17; Romans 1:16

Notes

(See below for all authors.)

What is going on here? What do you think of this vision? What stands out to you? What do you think is the craziest part?

What do you think this vision shows about God? Significantly, it shows that God is sovereign and in control of all things in heaven, on earth, and throughout eternity—the new heavens and earth. (These three are spoken of in that order in this chapter). How do you think it might show God's sovereign control?

Swedish Method questions

See the Sunday notes for meaning of the symbols.

Prayer

  1. Thank God for his sovereign control and pray He would help you trust Him (believe He is in control), especially when things are hard.
