Who is the Redeemer of God’s elect?

The only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who, being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was, and continueth to be, God and man in two distinct natures, and one person, for ever.

Next, Luke introduces us to Mary. Mary was promised to be married to Joseph, but she had never had a baby and was still a virgin. The angel Gabriel appeared to her. Just as he had told Zechariah good news, he now brought Mary even more amazing news!

Gabriel told Mary that she was going to have a baby. This was impossible by normal human standards because the baby would not have a human father. Instead, the Holy Spirit would work by God's power, and Mary's son would be Jesus, the Son of God and the eternal King. Jesus was born without sin. He was the holy Son of God who came to save His people.

The angel also told Mary about her relative Elizabeth, who was six months pregnant. This was another miracle because Elizabeth had been unable to have children. When Mary visited Elizabeth, both Elizabeth and her unborn baby, John, were filled with joy.

Mary trusted God's plan. Instead of complaining or being afraid, she praised God. She spoke about how great, powerful, and wonderful He is. God had done amazing things for her, and through Jesus He would do amazing things for the whole world.

Like Mary, we should praise God and tell others how great He is.
