Like the woman Jesus healed, Rahab was also saved by her faith.
With the scarlet cord in the window, Rahab's house would have been easily recognizable, but now that the walls have collapsed it is presumably more so in that her house is still standing. Whatever the detail, the two spies now return to the story, and with specific obedience to a direct command from Joshua they go into Rahab's house and bring her out, along with all her family, rescued by Israel's faithfulness to the promise made and because of her faithfulness to them. Because of her faith in Yahweh as the true and living God, she and all who belonged to her are "saved alive" (v. 25). ...
God's promises have lasting value. He will not go back on his word, and there in the midst of Israel is the living proof. Rahab and her family began outside the camp of Israel (v. 23b), but soon they were living among the people, and eventually she finds her true place in the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1:5. Acts of faith have long-lasting effects.
