Jesus called on the family and friends of the young girl who had died to not be afraid, only believe. Similarly, God calls on His people here to not be afraid. The implication is that when we believe God we won’t be afraid.
We don’t need to be afraid, because God is in control Nations; nations and rulers are under His control. Even though the whole earth trembles in fear, God’s people don’t need to. Instead, we need to remember and believe God’s Word.
When Nancy had her second brain tumor ten years after her first one, she was six months pregnant with our sixth child. That was scary. Our pastor encouraged her with Isaiah 41:10—a verse she had memorized. She did not need to fear, because God was with her. She did not need to be dismayed, because God is her God. God’s promise in the verse is that He will strengthen, help, and hold on to her with His righteous right hand. Nancy’s testimony is, that He did! And He will do that for all of His people—for you, and me.
We need to remember that. Over and over in the Bible , God tells His people to not be afraid. So, don’t be afraid; only believe.
