Questions

(Some read the ?s before the notes/ ask them after.)
  1. How does God give us endurance.
  2. Why might we suffer?
  3. What should we do since God gives us endurance?

Notes

(See Saturday for authors.)

We need endurance, which means not giving up when life is hard. The Bible says this in Hebrews 10:36.

Paul explains that endurance grows when we go through tough times. It's not just "hard things make you stronger." It's that God uses hard things to help us grow up, become mature, and learn to trust Him.

James says endurance helps us become complete. But both Paul and James say endurance starts with trials-the hard things we face. We might wish we could get endurance without suffering, but God uses those hard moments to help us grow. As Keddie says, James is saying that as an act of faith we must put these trials in the credit column.

So how do we get endurance?

So be confident: God will give you endurance. Even when life is hard, remember that God has helped you before and He will keep helping you. With God's help, endure.
